Devon Eakin battled through a tough calf in Round 1 to emerge victorious in the Hooey Jr. Patriot 15 & Under Tie-Down Last Chance Qualifier, putting together a composite of 45.85 seconds on three head to win $1,417.
“My first run I had a big calf they’d tied once so I went 18.84,” Eakin, 15, said. “It was longer than I was hoping, and there were a few things I knew I could fix for the next round. My second calf was smaller and easier to handle, and I was 10.6 on him.”
