Wyoming’s Hadley Thompson is a seasoned professional at the Hooey Jr. Patriot—attending for the fifth year in a row and taking the 19 & Under Goat Tying Last Chance Qualifier Jackpot Championship.
Tying three head in 21.06 seconds with a collar flanking style, Thompson came away with a total of $1,475 won. The success was foreshadowing for the rest of the week in the 19 & Under Goat Tying, where she advanced through the semifinal and competed on short round Sunday. At 16-years-old, Thompson is younger than most in the 19 & Under division, meaning she has time to perfect her craft and gather up more money in the goat tying.
“My whole life revolves around rodeo,” Thompson said. “I started riding when I could walk.”
Although she admitted breakaway roping has her heart, Thompson competes in goat tying, pole bending, barrel racing and team roping, as well.
