19 & Under Tie Down Last Chance

The tall young man from Bloomfield, New Mexico named Dontae Pacheco took the 19 & Under Tie-Down Last Chance Qualifier Championship at the Hooey Jr. Patriot with an aggregate of 28.39 seconds on three head.

Pacheco kicked things off with a Round 1 win, roping in 8.77 seconds. In all, he rounded up $3,683 and qualified for the 19 and Under Semifinals.

“My first round I drew a really good calf,” Pacheco, 19, said. “My horse got short on me, but I made it work and won the first round. The second round I had another good calf and tied in 9.4 seconds. In the short round my calf came up the rope a little on me and I was expecting it to give me some trouble on the ground, but he just laid there.”
