Jessie Everett banked the victory in the Open Last Chance Tie for the Crown goat tying at the Hooey Junior Patriot with a time of 20.11 seconds on three runs to take home $1,220.
She caused an upset for Wyoming sisters Hadley and Haiden Thompson, who dominated much of the goat tying competition throughout the week in Everett’s home state of Texas. Hadley finished in second place, earning $1,020 for her 20.19, while Haiden went to third for her 20.86 seconds, worth $815.
But in 2024, Everett had her chance to shine at an event that she’s attended for multiple years.
“I haven’t had any luck here before,” Everett said. “But it’s still my favorite event to go to. I always have so much fun here.”
