Mr. Consistency Colton Charleston took the 12 & Under Breakaway Last Chance Championship with an aggregate of 7.32 ahead of a week full of Hooey Jr. Patriot roping competition.
Charleston won Round 1 with a 2.33, was second in Round 2 with a 2.51 and finished it out with a 2.48-second run in the short round aboard palomino gelding “Batman,” who he’s ridden for nearly half of his life.
“To make [competition] easy, you have to trust your horse and put in a lot of practice,” Charleston, 12, said. “You and your horse have to get together.”
