POLE BENDING RESULTS

The Patriot pole bending kicked off on Mar. 5 in Fort Worth Texas, and it was Georgia’s Molly Dismuke, who rode her favorite pole horse, Frenchmanstinydancer “Roxie,” to the $1,620 victory in 21.228 seconds.

The winning time marks the 13-year-old’s personal best on a pole pattern, making it extra special. She teamed up with Roxie about a year and a half prior to The Patriot 2024, and noted that it took several months before she and the mare clicked well. Now, the duo looks rock solid.

It took us about three months to figure it out,” Dismuke said. “She’s actually better at running barrels than she is poles. I didn’t know how today would go, but she was great. She’s a sweet mare to be around, too.”

Arina Dee Haugen had her position secured to the Hooey Junior Patriot Semifinals, but added in some practice in the Last Chance Qualifier in Fort Worth, which paid off to the tune of $2,155 for her 20.336-second run.

Her equine partner in crime was none other than VF A Famous Lady, “Chili,” the 2022 AQHA National High School Rodeo Association Women’s Horse of the Year, and the same horse that clinched a national championship in the pole bending and all-around race for her previous owner, Rayne Grant that year.

“She’s a great horse,” Haugen said. “She’s pretty easy to ride usually. She’s very fast and consistent.”

Haugen, who hails from Sturgis, South Dakota,  also had success in the breakaway arena while at the Hooey Junior Patriot in 2024 and competes in barrel racing
