Enter a side potHow to enter a sidepot

A $100 Patriot membership is required to enter side pots and advance to the semifinals. Buy it at Member Sign In. The Hooey Jr Patriot offers a dual qualification at each approved qualifier: Las Vegas, NV, in December and Fort Worth, TX, in March.

Ages are the contestant’s age on the day of the qualifying event. All side pots are entered online.

15 & Under and 12 & Under$150$75$225

  • A contestant qualifies at most 2 times per discipline. In the 15U and 12U, the 2 count across both age groups.
  • Rough stock side pots are $50 for every class at both finals: bull riding, bareback and saddle bronc in 5U Walk Trot, 6-8, 9-11, 12-14, 15-16 and 17-19. Rough stock earns no points.
  • The deadline to qualify is 2 weeks before the Fort Worth dates and 1 week before Las Vegas.
Who enters what

Divisions

  • 19 & Under: barrels, poles, goat tying and breakaway are girls only. Tie down and steer wrestling are boys only. Team roping is coed.
  • 15 & Under: goat tying, breakaway, barrels and poles are girls only.
  • 12 & Under: barrels, poles, breakaway and goat tying are coed.
  • Contestants must be entered at the rodeo in the age group of the side pot. A 19U goat tying entry enters the 19U goat tying side pot, and that time counts for no other division.
  • Barrels and poles carry over, because the pattern is the same: a contestant entered in the 12U or 15U barrels or poles can buy the side pots of the older age groups and use the same time. For example, a 12U barrels run can count for the 15U and 19U barrels side pots.
At every qualifier

Qualifications

  • General qualifiers: the top 5 qualify when 19 or fewer enter the side pot, the top 10 when 20 or more do. Above 100 side pot entries, 1 more qualifies for every 10.
  • Super qualifiers: 10 qualify, however many enter.
  • A contestant entered in the rodeo more than once but in the side pot once is placed on the first, or "A", run.

Draw outs and entry changes: email the change form to info@patriotevent.com before the event closes. 75% of fees are refunded; the office fee and the 4% card fee are not. No refund or change after the event starts. Entering after the close costs a $50 late fee; text 417-350-1252 or email info@patriotevent.com with the event, date, location and discipline to have it reopened.

Top 15 of the year

Points

The top 10 of every event at every qualifier earn points, however many qualify. The top 15 point earners of each 12U, 15U and 19U event, steer wrestling excepted, may enter an added-money event at the Fort Worth Finals and win prizes. Once a contestant holds 2 qualifications, they can keep entering side pots for points. Super qualifiers pay double: 20 points for first down to 1 for 20th. The points deadline for Fort Worth is the qualification deadline.

15.5 and 10.5

Team roping

  • 15.5 and 10.5 team ropers qualify for the Fort Worth and Las Vegas semifinals through the Patriot side pots. Teams must be entered in a 19U team roping and its side pot to qualify for the 19U 15.5 and 10.5.
  • A roper qualifies at most 2 times in each of the 15.5 and 10.5: 2 heading, 2 heeling, or 1 of each. Ropers may switch ends but stay in the division they qualified in.
  • A 10.5 team split by a number change may move to the 15.5, or stay in the 10.5 with a new partner. The 10.5 is capped at a 6.5 heeler. No team moves to a division it did not qualify in.
  • A new partner must have entered a qualifying Patriot side pot this season. A partner without a qualification pays $750; one with a qualification pays the qualification fee.
Last Chance, Semi Finals, Finals

Finals format

  • Las Vegas runs the same format as Fort Worth: a Last Chance Qualifier, the Semi Finals and a final performance.
  • Chris Neal’s Las Vegas Stars at the Plaza hosts the Last Chance Qualifiers for all tie-down and breakaway events; their semifinals are at Las Vegas Horseman’s Park.
  • Patriot Vegas hosts the Last Chance Qualifiers and semifinals for barrels, poles, goat tying, steer wrestling and team roping. The top 10 of every event and age division advance to the final performance.
  • At Fort Worth the top 15 advance in every age division. The 19U final performance carries a $100,000 bonus round; the 15U and 12U have their own performance with a $50,000 bonus round.
